Seattle Mariners Injury Updates on Robbie Ray and Andres Munoz

The Seattle Mariners open up a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday night at Citizens Bank Park.

The Mariners enter the game at 10-12 after taking a weekend series from the St. Louis Cardinals in Seattle.

Before the game, Mariners beat reporter Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times provided some injury updates on a pair of M's pitchers: Robbie Ray and Andres Munoz.

Regarding Munoz: "Andres Munoz is scheduled to throw a live batting practice session on Wednesday at the team's complex in Arizona and then join Class AAA Tacoma in Las Vegas for a rehab assignment.

Munoz has been out since April 9th with a deltoid issue and his absence has been glaring in the Mariners bullpen. While Paul Sewald has done a good job in high-leverage situations, Matt Brash has struggled trying to fill Munoz's shoes.

Munoz burst onto the scene last year, pitching in 64 games and registering a 2.49 ERA. He struck out 96 batters in just 65 innings.

As for Robbie Ray, who has been out since his first start of the season, Divish provides this note:

"Robbie Ray (flexor strain) was meeting with team doctors on Tuesday. If he's cleared to start throwing, he will head to Arizona to start the process."

Ray, 31, signed a five-year deal with the Mariners before the 2022 season and went 12-12 with a 3.71 ERA last year. He won the 2021 Cy Young for the Blue Jays, going 13-7 with a 2.84 ERA.

For his career, he's 74-71 and has played with Seattle, Toronto, Arizona and Detroit.

The Mariners and Phillies begin their series at 6:40 p.m. ET.
